Your assumptions, not OpenAI prices
A month is 30.4 days of your daily budget. Daily spend can run up to twice the budget on a given day and averages out over the week.
The short answer
You choose to pay per 1,000 views or per click, from a minimum of $25 a day per campaign in the US. OpenAI suggests starting click bids at $3 to $5; view prices started near a $60 CPM and have since come down.
The campaign objective sets the price model. You can't switch objective later, so pick deliberately.
Per 1,000 impressions (CPM)
You want reach and recall in a category, and can judge success without a click.
Per valid click (CPC)
You want visits and can measure what happens on your site.
Per click or per 1,000 views, never per conversion
You have a working conversion event and enough volume for the system to learn from.
OpenAI publishes a recommended starting bid for clicks, not a price list. View prices come from buyers and trade press.

A daily budget is an average over a budget week that runs Sunday to Saturday in your account's time zone. On any one day spend can reach twice the daily budget; across the week it stops at seven times. Unspent budget early in the week can be used later in the same week.
The catch: if a campaign uses the week's allowance early, it can stop delivering until the next week while still marked active. If your ads go quiet late in the week, check this before anything else. More causes are in why ChatGPT ads don't show.
Start with a daily budget you can hold for a few weeks rather than a big campaign total, so you can watch delivery before committing. Put it behind one or two ad groups with clearly different buyers, then judge cost per conversion from your own tracking, not the price of a click.

There is no public rate card. You set a budget and choose to pay per 1,000 views (CPM) or per click (CPC), or run a conversion-optimized campaign that is still billed per click or per 1,000 views. OpenAI recommends starting click bids at $3 to $5. View prices have fallen since launch: a CPM around $60 at first, with later reports of roughly $25 to $45.
Yes, a minimum daily budget per campaign that depends on your billing currency: $25 in US dollars, for example, or £15, €15, CA$25 and A$25. The large upfront commitments of the early pilot no longer apply to self-serve accounts.
No. Conversion-optimized campaigns aim delivery at a conversion event you choose, but you are billed per valid click or per 1,000 views served, never per conversion.
On a single day, yes: spend can reach up to twice the daily budget. Over the budget week (Sunday to Saturday in your account's time zone) it will not exceed seven times the daily budget. If the week's allowance runs out early, delivery can stop until the next week.
They're hard to compare directly: ChatGPT ads have no keywords or search term report, one answer shows one ad at most, and prices are still settling. Compare them on cost per conversion from your own tracking, not on the price of a click.
The audit ranks every fix by the monthly spend at stake. Tracking shows which prompts your money actually wins.
